The Little Mitropolis

The 1000 year old Byzantine little Mitropolis was once Athens’ main church. The doors aren’t always open so when they are I like to pay my respects.  The building blocks of the church were repurposed from ancient temples so the exterior is a fascinating mix of Ancient Greek, Roman and Byzantine symbols, carvings and friezes.  Every time I look at I see something new.  And Mr. Stavros loves to roll around in the grassy courtyard.  Fun for the whole family.
