There is a reason this little souvlaki joint, just off of Athens main shopping drag, Ermou street, is busy from the moment it opens till it closes. Meat the Greek serves up some of the souvlaki fare in Athens. Greeks love their kalamakia, (skewered grilled meat) and no place does it better than Meat the Greek. Besides there skewers of pork, chicken, bifteki (this mini hamburger) and veggie Mastelo cheese they a whole range of classic souvlaki joint favorites, just elevated. Everything is hand made here including the hand-cut french fries covered in oregano or feta cheese if your prefer. And absolutely delicious Greek salad and an antioxidant salad that is fresh and healthy. The wait staff is super friendly and Giorgos the owner is charming and proud of what he has created, as he should be. Go with a group of friends and order a bunch of dishes. The wait for your food can take some time, as everything is made to order, but you won't leave disappointed.
