Apartment Building Mavromati, (Πολυκατοικία Μαυρομάτη) built in 1933.

This might be one of my favorite apartment building lobbies in Athens.  Ploutarchou 3 in Kolonaki was designed by Konstantinos Kyriakidis and completed in 1933.  It is a blend of Athenian modernism and eclecticism and someone obviously had a lot of fun picking the colors.  The door was wide open the other day so I helped myself to a peek.

One of the joys of exploring Athens is that you can just pop your head into a building that looks interesting to check out the lobby, artwork, details etc. Very few doormen remain so only rarely do I get chased out of anywhere. And many times a current tenant might even give me a tour.... when I ask nicely.
